Did india really get its independence on"15th aug 1947" ??

  Amidst the resounding echoes of history, as the clock strikes the midnight hour a nation's heartbeat reverberates with the spirit of freedom !! Such a good news !!

But speaking reality did India really get its independence on 15th august 1947 ??

At the stroke of midnight of 14-15th august the British rule came to an end and power was transferred to the two new "**dominion**" nations.(India and Pak)

i.e., India stood as only a dominion country with England being the head state of India !!

Eventually, its is only in 1950 India has become an independent "republic" nation!!
